The EASTERN MISSOURI DARK SKY OBSERVERS is the astronomy club for the east-central Missouri region. Membership is open to anyone interested in the science of astronomy or related space sciences, regardless of age or experience level.

Dues for E.M.D.S.O. membership are $24.00 (Base Dues), for students and those who are financially strapped.  $36.00, Supporting Membership - the extra amount helps to support the two observatory facilities and the occasional PROJECT that the club gets involved with, such as the 'LOANER scopes.'  Hopefully, there won't be another DUES INCREASE for another 13 years.  If you want SKY & TELESCOPE magazine, it's an additional $29.95.

Special reduced magazine subscription rates are available to club members. (To participate in this reduced rate offer, there is a minimum requirement of five club members wanting a subscription to a publication.) Please include the yearly magazine rate with your membership if you wish to subscribe.

• "ASTRONOMY" 1year/12 issues, $24.00 (non-member $34.95)

Benefits of membership in E.M.D.S.O. include:

• Receipt of the bi-monthly club newsletter "DARK SKY OBSERVER;"
• Automatic membership in the ASTRONOMICAL LEAGUE and receipt of their quarterly newsletter "REFLECTOR;"
• Free access to loaner telescopes for personal use.

Members have access to two observatory locations.

• The Schmidt-Scott Memorial Observatory is located on the campus of East Central College, Union, MO. This observatory houses a 10-inch diameter Newtonian-type telescope. The Schmidt-Scott Memorial Observatory is open for public view on the second Saturday and fourth Friday of each month, barring conflicts with holidays.
• The Menke Observatory, located in a rural setting near New Haven, MO, houses a 30-inch diameter telescope that can be used for educational and research purposes.
